Capcom Brings Marvel vs. Capcom and Fighting Collections to Xbox After Fan Outcry
Capcom has announced that the Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics and Capcom Fighting Collection 2 will be coming to Xbox One, a move that has delighted Xbox fans previously left in the dark. Initially, these retro game collections were set to release only on PS4, Switch, and PC, sparking concern among Xbox owners who feared missing out on these beloved classics.
The Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics was first unveiled during a Nintendo event in June, followed by the Capcom Fighting Collection 2 announcement in August. However, both announcements omitted Xbox as a platform, which was surprising given that previous titles like Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite had been released on Xbox.
In response to fan concerns, Capcom revealed that the decision to exclude Xbox was reconsidered after “technical discussions” with Microsoft. The Capcom Fighting Collection 2 and other platforms are scheduled to launch on Xbox in 2025. However, the Marvel vs. Capcom compilation will arrive on Xbox several months after its initial release on other systems, with its digital release set for September 12 and the physical version on November 22. The Xbox version will follow sometime next year.
The Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics will include:
- Marvel Super Heroes
- Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter
- Marvel vs. Capcom
- Marvel vs. Capcom 2
- The Punisher
- X-Men: Children of the Atom
- X-Men vs. Street Fighter
The Capcom Fighting Collection 2 will feature:
- Capcom Fighting Evolution
- Capcom vs. SNK: Millennium Fight 2000 Pro
- Capcom vs. SNK 2: Mark of the Millennium 2001
- Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper
- Project Justice
- Power Stone
- Power Stone 2
- Plasma Sword: Nightmare of Bilstein
Capcom’s decision to bring these titles to Xbox is a significant win for the Xbox community, ensuring that players on this platform have access to classic Capcom fighting games. This move also marks a notable shift away from the trend of Xbox missing out on major titles or receiving them much later than other platforms. The quick resolution from Capcom demonstrates the company’s commitment to its fans across all platforms, offering hope that more such compilations of beloved classics may arrive on Xbox in the future.
