Red Dead Redemption Finally Arrives on PC After 14 Years
Rockstar Games has officially announced that the original Red Dead Redemption will be coming to PC on October 29, 2024, more than 14 years after its initial release on consoles. Originally launched in 2010 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, the game became a fan-favorite, followed by the standalone Undead Nightmare expansion later that same year.
For years, Red Dead Redemption remained exclusive to older consoles until backward compatibility made it available on Xbox, and in 2023, it was released on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4. While fans hoped for a full remaster or remake, Rockstar chose to release a direct port instead.
Now, the long wait for PC players is over. Rockstar, in collaboration with Double Eleven, has announced that the PC port will come with several upgrades, including support for 4K resolution at up to 144hz, Ultrawide and Super Ultrawide monitor support, HDR10, and enhanced features such as NVIDIA DLSS 3.7, AMD FSR 3.0, and more. The Undead Nightmare expansion will also be included in the PC release.
While Rockstar has historically prioritized consoles, PC gamers can finally dive into the complete Red Dead Redemption experience, alongside its prequel Red Dead Redemption 2. Players will once again join John Marston in his quest to hunt down the last members of the Van der Linde gang.
Fans can look forward to October 29 for the release and can also anticipate Rockstar’s next major release, Grand Theft Auto 6, which may not launch on PC initially.
