XDefiant November 2024 Update: Bug Fixes, Private Matches, and Progression Changes
Ubisoft San Francisco has rolled out a new update for XDefiant, its free-to-play first-person shooter, across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The update brings bug fixes, gameplay improvements, and the addition of Private Matches—one of the most requested features by the community.
Key Features and Fixes
Private Matches Added
Players can now host Private Matches, allowing them to create custom lobbies, invite friends, and select game modes and maps. After matches conclude, participants are returned to the lobby for seamless play continuity.
Weapon Progression Reverted
Responding to community feedback, Ubisoft has reverted weapon progression thresholds to their pre-2.3 values. Primary weapons now level up every 1,500 XP, and secondary weapons every 500 XP. The change applies retroactively, ensuring smoother progression for all players.
Bug Fixes and Improvements
- Gameplay: Resolved a melee glitch that allowed excessive damage with rapid button taps.
- Factions: Fixed issues with the Highwaymen faction, including crashes tied to their Buzzsaw Launcher and animation glitches.
- Maps: Addressed an invisible obstruction on the Daytona map that was blocking bullets.
- Game Modes: Fixed Zone Control capture issues where contested zones couldn’t be secured.
- Devices: Smoke Grenades now correctly obscure light from windows and doorways.
- Miscellaneous: Corrected Ninja Sprint animation on store previews and MVP screens.
Ubisoft’s Commitment to XDefiant
Despite rumors of dwindling player numbers and potential support ending after Season 4, Ubisoft has dismissed shutdown concerns. The game’s executive producer confirmed ongoing planning for Year 2 content, emphasizing the studio’s long-term commitment to the shooter.
