PlayStation Cancels Two Live-Service Games from Bend Studio and Bluepoint Games

PlayStation has reportedly canceled two upcoming live-service games, one from Bend Studio and another from Bluepoint Games. This decision marks a significant shift in the company’s approach to live-service titles, following several previous cancellations.

Bend Studio’s canceled project was an unannounced open-world action game, initially revealed in 2022. Recent leaks suggested the game might have been a military-themed third-person shooter. Meanwhile, Bluepoint Games, known for its acclaimed remakes like Demon’s Souls, was working on a live-service God of War game, which has also been scrapped.

These cancellations reflect PlayStation’s broader scaling back of its live-service ambitions. The company had planned to release at least 10 live-service games by 2026, but delays and shut-downs have reduced this target significantly. High-profile projects, including The Last of Us Online by Naughty Dog and Concord by Firewalk Studios, have already been canceled.

Despite the cancellations, PlayStation has confirmed that neither Bend Studio nor Bluepoint Games will be closed. The companies are currently evaluating their next steps, though fans may not see new projects from them until the next generation of consoles.
