At last we are here! This year’s Game Awards has come full circle; from surprises, reveals, performances and awards galore; it all culminates tonight as we reach its conclusion and await its most coveted award winner.

Game of the Year 2023 has seen some incredible releases. Narrowing it down to six nominees may have been difficult; Alan Wake II, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, Baldur’s Gate 3, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Resident Evil 4 and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 made up the final list – Timothee Chalamet has now taken to stage to announce this year’s Game of the Year as Baldur’s Gate 3.

Congratulations to Larian Studios developers on taking home several awards for Baldur’s Gate 3 including Player’s Voice, Best Multiplayer, Neil Newbon’s performance of Astarion as Best Performance Artist and Community Support Award.

Baldur’s Gate 3 stands apart in both scope and scale from other games I’ve encountered, even during an exceptional year in gaming such as 2013: […] In an otherwise impressive lineup of titles like Civilization V or Fable 3, Baldur’s Gate 3 stands head and shoulders above them all.” I don’t expect anything quite so memorable in future generations!

Baldur’s Gate 3 still isn’t on Xbox Series X/S yet – at least, that was your perception until tonight’s show where many expected an announcement regarding release dates or announcements didn’t arrive as anticipated. Instead, head on over to Microsoft Store as Baldur’s Gate 3 is finally here in shadow-drop form! We can only hope a formal acknowledgement comes soon enough!
