Croc Remaster Delayed to Early 2025

The highly anticipated remaster of Croc: Legend of the Gobbos, originally scheduled for December 2024, has been delayed to the first quarter of 2025. Developer Argonaut Games announced the postponement on Twitter, citing quality assurance as the primary reason for the delay.

While no exact release date has been provided, the remaster is confirmed for a multiplatform launch across current-generation consoles and PC. The team expressed regret for missing the holiday release window but emphasized their commitment to delivering the best experience possible.

Croc: Legend of the Gobbos was first released in 1997 on the original PlayStation, Sega Saturn, and PC. The game became a cult favorite in the platforming genre, standing alongside classics like Spyro the Dragon and Crash Bandicoot. Players take on the role of Croc, a heroic crocodile rescuing furry creatures called Gobbos from the villainous Baron Dante.

The remaster’s announcement surprised many, as the Croc franchise has remained niche since its heyday. However, the trend of reviving retro platformers has proven successful in recent years, with titles like the Spyro Reignited Trilogy and SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated enjoying critical and commercial acclaim.

While fans will need to wait a little longer, the delay ensures that Croc’s return will meet modern gaming expectations. In the meantime, other platformers, including the upcoming remaster of indie favorite Yooka-Laylee, offer plenty of adventures to enjoy.
