Dungeons and Dragons: Dark Alliance Shutting Down in February 2025

Dungeons and Dragons: Dark Alliance will be shutting down its servers on February 25, 2025, marking the end of its troubled journey. The game, which launched in 2021, faced issues like a buggy release and lackluster gameplay, leading to disappointing reception. Despite a series of updates aimed at addressing player feedback, Dark Alliance never fully recovered, unlike other D&D titles such as Baldur’s Gate 3, which became a huge success.

The announcement came on December 17 through the game’s Steam page, where it was confirmed that the servers would go offline and the game would no longer be available for purchase after February 2025. Those who already own the game will still be able to play it offline, but the online co-op mode will be unavailable.

This closure follows a tough year for D&D’s video game adaptations. In 2023, Wizards of the Coast canceled five unannounced games, including potential D&D projects. Despite these setbacks, Baldur’s Gate 3 showed that the franchise can still thrive in the gaming world. However, with the cancellation of future Baldur’s Gate installments, the future of D&D video games remains uncertain.
