Green Day to Release “Dookie Demastered” on Game Boy Cartridge

In an unexpected twist for both music and gaming fans, Green Day has announced the release of Dookie Demastered, a unique collection of nostalgic items, including a limited-edition Game Boy cartridge. The announcement has surprised many, as it’s been decades since the last Game Boy cartridge was produced.

Dookie Demastered celebrates the band’s iconic 1994 album Dookie. One of the most talked-about items in the collection is a Game Boy cartridge that plays “Welcome to Paradise” in chiptune format. Although not a playable game, this collectible functions on an actual Game Boy. Only 25 copies of the cartridge will be available in the U.S. for $39 each.

In addition to the cartridge, the collection includes other limited-edition items, such as a floppy disk that plays “Having a Blast” and a doorbell that plays “Longview.” The entire collection is a nostalgic nod to both the band’s legacy and retro technology.

This isn’t Green Day’s first foray into video games. The band was previously featured in Green Day: Rock Band in 2010, allowing fans to perform songs from American Idiot and Dookie. Now, with Dookie Demastered, Green Day is bringing their music to an entirely different retro platform.

For fans of both gaming and music, this unique release is a fun way to experience Dookie in an unconventional format.
