Hideo Kojima Reveals New Sneak Peek of Death Stranding 2 Menu Screen
Hideo Kojima, director of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, recently offered fans a glimpse of the game’s tentative menu screen. The highly anticipated sequel to 2019’s Death Stranding is slated for release in 2025 as a PS5 exclusive and promises to continue the game’s iconic post-apocalyptic story.
First announced during The Game Awards in 2022, Death Stranding 2 boasts a cast of returning and new stars, including Norman Reedus, Léa Seydoux, and Elle Fanning. Kojima has teased the game’s progress over the past year, revealing trailers at Sony’s State of Play event in February and at the Tokyo Game Show in September.
In his latest reveal on Twitter, Kojima shared an image of the game’s menu screen, featuring protagonist Sam Porter Bridges, portrayed by Reedus, sharing a tender moment with a baby. The menu includes a “Recap of Death Stranding” option, allowing new players to catch up on the original story and giving returning players a refresher.
While Kojima noted that the menu is subject to change, the inclusion of a recap suggests a welcoming feature for fans new and old alike. The image Kojima shared also doubles as the key promotional artwork seen on the developer’s website, the PS Store page, and the latest trailer.
At last month’s Tokyo Game Show, Kojima Productions previewed additional features for Death Stranding 2, including a new photo mode and in-game dance events. Kojima has also hinted at an experimental approach for the sequel, aiming to further blur the line between gameplay and storytelling. Whether this direction enhances the Death Stranding experience remains to be seen, but fans are eagerly awaiting what’s next in Kojima’s unique world.
