Insomniac Cancels Spider-Man 2 Story DLC Plans, Fans Disappointed

Insomniac Games has confirmed that there will be no story DLC for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, leaving many fans disappointed. The announcement came after months of speculation, especially following the release of Spider-Man 2 for PS5 in October 2023. Unlike Spider-Man (2018), which received The City That Never Sleeps expansion shortly after launch, Spider-Man 2 will not receive any additional story content.

Rumors of potential DLC surfaced after a data breach in December 2023, which suggested plans for three story expansions addressing unfinished plotlines from the base game. Despite this, Insomniac recently announced that it has “no additional story content planned,” raising concerns among fans about unresolved storylines involving characters like Carnage and Chameleon.

While the decision has sparked debate, with some arguing that the $70 price tag of the game warrants extra content, Insomniac may resolve these loose ends in future titles, such as Spider-Man 3 or the rumored Venom: Lethal Protector spin-off, which is speculated to release in 2025. However, with no official details on the Venom game as of yet, fans are left wondering about the studio’s future plans.
