Lethal Company Update Adds Tactical Belt Bag and Rare Weather Event
Lethal Company, the cooperative survival horror game, has received a new update in early September, and while it’s not the biggest patch, it brings a key addition to help players manage their limited inventory space. The update introduces the Tactical Belt Bag, an item that promises to make surviving in the hostile environment of space a bit easier.
Having entered Early Access in October 2023, Lethal Company focuses on teams of up to four players traveling to various planets to gather scrap. The goal is simple: collect enough to meet the company’s monetary quotas or face being flushed into the cold depths of space. The game’s core mechanics revolve around balancing risk and reward as players scavenge dangerous environments. With co-op games on the rise, Lethal Company has quickly found success, drawing in fans who enjoy its blend of teamwork and survival horror.
New Tactical Belt Bag Offers Inventory Relief
In a post on the Steam community page, Lethal Company developer Zeekerss revealed the latest update—Version 64—which adds the Tactical Belt Bag to the game. This new item can be purchased from the on-ship computer and provides 15 slots for non-scrap items. While players won’t be able to fill it with valuable scrap to meet their quotas, the Tactical Belt Bag will allow for the storage of essential items like flashlights and walkie talkies. Even better, any player can access these items while the belt is worn, turning one team member into a mobile hub. This frees up other players’ inventory slots for carrying as much scrap as possible, maximizing the team’s efficiency.
A New Weather Event Brings Fresh Dangers
In addition to the Tactical Belt Bag, the update introduces a mysterious new weather event with a rare 0.6% chance of occurring on any day at any time. Zeekerss didn’t specify what exactly this event entails, leaving players in suspense. So far, no community members have reported encountering this new event, but weather in Lethal Company has always been a game-changer. Events like lightning storms that can kill players carrying metal scrap or quicksand from heavy rains have already added layers of danger to the game. It’s likely this new weather event will have similarly challenging effects when it eventually makes an appearance.
Bug Fixes and More to Come
In addition to these new features, the update also includes a few bug fixes, though Zeekerss didn’t detail exactly what issues were addressed. The developer has noted that while this patch is on the smaller side, it’s currently busy working on another project, Welcome to the Dark Place. Originally slated for release in early 2020, Welcome to the Dark Place will bring a choices-matter approach to the indie horror genre, building anticipation for what Zeekerss has in store next.
While the Lethal Company update may be small, the addition of the Tactical Belt Bag could significantly impact team dynamics, giving players more flexibility in how they approach each mission. And with a new weather event lurking in the shadows, players have yet another reason to stay on their toes as they continue their perilous scrap hunts.
