Path of Exile 2 Early Access Delayed: New Date Set for December 6
Grinding Gear Games has announced a delay for Path of Exile 2‘s early access launch, now set for December 6 instead of the original November 15. The delay, according to game director Jonathan Rogers, is due to server infrastructure work taking longer than anticipated.
Rogers explained that the team is dedicated to ensuring microtransactions from the first Path of Exile game transfer seamlessly to Path of Exile 2. The developers face the complex task of creating systems that support backward compatibility with old data from Path of Exile. In addition, they are rigorously conducting load testing to prevent server issues at launch.
Despite believing the team could technically have met the original date, Rogers admitted that rushing could result in avoidable errors. “We have to get everything perfect so that nobody loses anything they paid for, and nobody has their account broken,” he emphasized in a recent update video.
In about four weeks, Grinding Gear Games will host a livestream showcasing what players can expect during the early access period. Path of Exile 2 promises exciting new content, with a storyline spanning six acts and over 100 endgame maps, each featuring unique bosses and modifiers.
Path of Exile 2 will be available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Originally intended as an expansion, it has since evolved into a standalone title with new features like local couch co-op, cross-play, and cross-progression, bringing new depth and connectivity to the Path of Exile universe.
