Upcoming Sony-Published Game Drops PSN Account Requirement on PC

New evidence suggests that Lost Soul Aside, an upcoming Sony-published hack and slash RPG, will not require a PlayStation Network (PSN) account for PC players. This move expands the game’s potential reach, allowing it to be sold in regions where PSN isn’t supported, and offering a smoother experience for players without the need for account linking.

Lost Soul Aside, developed by Shanghai-based UltiZeroGames, is one of the most anticipated indie titles from PlayStation’s China Hero Project. After nearly nine years of development, the action RPG, inspired by Devil May Cry, is set to launch on both PS5 and PC in 2025.

Sony had previously implemented a mandatory PSN account requirement for PlayStation games on PC, causing frustration among users and limiting the game’s availability in over 100 countries.

However, shortly after the game’s Steam page went live in December 2024, the requirement was quietly removed. This move is a significant shift for Sony, especially after the backlash surrounding PSN account linking in other PC releases, like Helldivers 2. While the exact reason behind the change is unclear, it likely reflects Sony’s desire to maximize the game’s global reach and player base.

For PC gamers, this change is a welcome development, particularly for those in regions where PSN is unavailable.
