WoW Classic Anniversary Realms Hit by Glitch, Season of Discovery Players Invade PvP Battlegrounds

An unexpected glitch in World of Warcraft Classic’s Anniversary Realms update caused Season of Discovery characters to appear in PvP Battlegrounds, briefly disrupting the gameplay. This issue, which affected both Alterac Valley and Warsong Gulch, was reported shortly after the January 16 update introduced these new Battlegrounds. Blizzard quickly disabled the feature, confirming the problem was due to a mix-up that allowed Season of Discovery characters to join the Classic Fresh servers.

The Season of Discovery characters, equipped with powerful Rune Engravings and high-level gear, created a huge power disparity. These players were able to dominate, with some even one-shotting groups of Classic Fresh players. The glitch was short-lived, but it resulted in some chaotic and hilarious encounters, with players using items and abilities that weren’t part of the original game.

Blizzard is working to resolve the issue and prevent any further disruptions, as the game’s upcoming Phase 7 update on January 28 introduces new content, including the Karazhan Crypts dungeon and Scourge Invasions. Players are hopeful this glitch will be a distant memory by the time these updates go live.
